Sunday, December 17th, 2006I noticed these mushrooms at work on Wednesday. So Thursday I brought in my stuff and took some pictures. None of them came out very good, but I do really like this composition.

This was just a grab shot when I went out to the wetlands on Monday. It’s raining now, and I’m just not motivated to take any indoor pics. So that’s what you get for this week.
Better a day late than never. I did take this picture last week, though. It’s one in a long sequence of almost-but-not-quite-right rat Christmas pictures. But I’m learning, and that’s what matters.
This is a quick shot of my niece getting off the school bus. If I could do it again, I’d probably get a bit lower to get the leaves closer to the bus. Overall, I’m quite happy with this shot.
I managed to take no good pictures on our trip this weekend to Sequoia National Park. Here’s the best of the bunch, a view from Morro Rock. The view there is awesome, but the picture doesn’t really do it justice. A tripod would’ve allowed more DOF and I think that would help a lot. But [...]
I didn’t get a post in last week, but this picture was taken then so it’s OK. Here’s a shot of the ridge leading up to Cathedral Peak. The light isn’t very good, and the colors are fairly boring, but I do really like the framing.
I gotta get out more. This is the best shot of the week. In fact today is the only day I took any pictures at all. Anyway, this was some neat moss on a rock near some water. We saw a bunch of neat water things, including interesting deposits that might have been clay. I [...]
I didn’t take any pictures this week. I tried some last-minute shots of Fiona, but they didn’t come out. So you get this total cop-out picture of my bicycle lights. I’ve never actually done something like this, so at least I briefly tried something new.
I went to the beach Thursday night because the clouds promised a great sunset. The sunset came through, but I don’t think I really made the most of it. Perhaps a longer lens would allow me to get more pretty sky in, or something.
On Tuesday the sunset looked promising and I did get out in time. I had a lot of fun taking 200mm shots with birds in the foreground. This is the one I like best, although I’d prefer it if the surfer was going the other way.
I'm Tim and this is my blog. I just started a year-long trip around the world on 7/1/08.
