PotW: One-Eyed Monster
Sunday, May 20th, 2007Another last-minute shot, but I do kind of like the abstract. There’s a lot of random little things to look at here. Maybe some day I’ll do it right, with more light and less pot.

Another week of no pics, so I spent some time with our strawberries this afternoon. Pretty fun, but the picture doesn’t have a real focus. It would work better if I’d made a bigger spiral. If you do like this shot, check out the work by Andy Goldsworthy. It’s like this, only good.
Went to the zoo for the first time in a while. Good fun, as always.
I’ve got this mediocre shot of a rose. There’s nice detail there, but the lighting just isn’t right. But if you turn it into a black and white, everything instantly becomes more artsy. So there you go.
I went on a wildflower tour on Figueroa Mountain last Saturday. It’s a pretty bad year for wildflowers and the sky didn’t cooperate, but it was still fun.
It’s hard to take a good shot of Yosemite, because the bar has been set very high. Here’s a slightly different view, and one that I quite like.
Better really late than never. We went on a whale watching excursion with my parents. Sadly, we didn’t find any whales. We did see a ton of dolphins as well as a huge amount of birds. The best shot of the trip features this oil rig, however.
Late again… (And I missed last week, I know.) We passed this lizard on Saturday’s hike, and he just wouldn’t move. I got the 17-50mm right in his face. He’s got some funky green coloring on some of his scales, too!
I just rediscovered the local seal rookery. It really is a pretty cool place to visit. Here you can see some seals taking a break from eating fish. There are several pups, if you look closely.
It’s spring, and all the flags are in bloom. I spent relatively a lot of time taking pics this week, but nothing really turned out. I do like the concept of this shot, though.
I'm Tim and this is my blog. I just started a year-long trip around the world on 7/1/08.
