Wildflower Pictures

I just uploaded this spring’s wildflower pictures. (Maybe there will be more, but we’re going to be away the next two weekends, and the forecast doesn’t look favorable.) Last week we went to Figueroa Mountain, and this weekend we did a loop of Amboy Crater and Joshua Tree. If you get a chance in the next several days, visit Amboy Crater. It’s amazing. It’s probably still amazing next weekend.

Also late, but not as much as last week’s post. This was taken in The Narrows of Zion National Park. Great fall color. Too bad I didn’t have a tripod to make it really sharp.

After a long hiatus, I’m hopefully going to stick with the picture of the week again. This is a blue whale as we saw it coming out of the water yesterday. The shot is cropped a bit, and shot with a 200mm lens, but that was still very close.

Another trip to the zoo, but the gorillas didn’t want to budge. So here’s a snow leopard instead. A beautiful cat, but sadly endangered.

A helicopter from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department airlifts out a hiker who broke his ankle in Santa Paula Canyon. Really I should’ve gone with a slower shutter speed, but I don’t trust my hand holding at 200mm.
