Or maybe they just don't try. It seems rats chew if they know they should be able to get through somewhere, but for some reason cannot. At any rate, we've had a PVC cage for probably 5 years now and I don't recall every seeing any chew marks on it, let alone a piece needing to be replaced. I found a nice under bed storage tub and built my cage into that. I changed one part of your design and I just wanted to share it with you. I took steel washers and used zip ties to hold them to the cage. This worked well and was fairly easy to do, and the magnets hold very well to the washers. I love your cage idea, thank you so much.
