Our reasoning? "The thunder and lightning are at least 4 counts apart, so it's not nearby!" That trip ended less than a mile from the goal, due to crazy amounts of hail being pelted onto our bare legs and only thinly covered shoulders. Did I mention we were above treeline and what cover there was had been taken up by smarter hikers? Good luck with the survival kit.
